I’d like to informally introduce you to From The Point. A blog about the Chicago Blackhawks.

Remember the Hawks blogosphere? Wasn’t that cool? Well, that shit doesn’t exist anymore. And let’s be real, that form of blogging is dead. The world has moved on. Unfortunately for me, I’m a bit slower-paced than the world. But boy, do I miss those days. That’s why I started this blog. It’s an “old school” form of blogging, and it isn’t by any means the best modern way to talk about hockey, but I don’t really care.

With the old blogs I enjoyed gone (mostly), I said fuck it, I’m making my own. This isn’t exactly my first time doing this. I’ve written for more serious publications and tried my hand at hockey blogging in the past. Writing about the Blackhawks nowadays means chasing clicks, plastering ads everywhere, and using social media platforms that hurt my soul. And I get it, that’s business. And quite frankly, from a business standpoint, this blog is doomed from the start. And I’m okay with that.

What a good transition for business. Let’s get down to it.

Content

I’ll obviously be writing about the Blackhawks. We run a one-man show around here, so let’s get consistency out of the way first. I’ll be posting during the weekdays, no weekends. I’ll miss games and news days because I have a full-blown real life outside of this digital space. Barring real-world obligations, you can expect a daily post recapping the previous day’s news and any updates from morning skate (if there is one). In that same post, I’ll preview the Hawks game of the night if there is one. On Mondays, I’ll do a nice, fat weekend recap.

This is just to carry us to the end of the season. I do plan on migrating this website over to Ghost, which will modernize the website. You’re stuck with this blast from the past for now.

What I won’t do is breaking news. I’ve been in that game before. Not doing it, bud. Sorry. I’m not here for views or breaking news. That’s for the birds. What I might do is write about it the following day. I’ll write about it from an objective standpoint and then finish it off with my views.

Eventually, there will be a newsletter. I have the capabilities to open one here, but most likely, that will happen when I move to Ghost.

Social Media

You can find me on Blue Sky, Threads, and Instagram. I get that sports media hangs out on X, but beyond the obvious questions about that website as a whole, I’m tired of the absolutely rampant meatball takes. I’m sick of it. I do lurk r/hawks, but that’s for shits and giggles, and then I pop smoke when something pisses me off (which happens a lot).

I won’t be active too much on the socials as it is. I won’t live-tweet (whatever it is we’re calling it these days), but might chime in somewhere.

I don’t do YouTube, no podcasts (unless there is a demand for that… for some reason… I promise you don’t want to hear me speak).

AI

Let’s talk about it.

No AI. Period.

I get that it’s a useful tool. But it seriously sterilizes shit. Everything you see here, from the logo to these typed words (jammed by stumpy fingers), is from a human heart. It’s a cold heart, but it’s not AI.

Anything else?

Again, this is a temporary space. I’ll have a contact form when we move for those who want to get in touch. The writer (that’s me) will remain anonymous. I have zero interest in writing for any publications at the moment. Please respect that.
